NATURAL & HONEST EGG RANGE
Billy’s Eggs was founded 16 years ago, and over time, we’ve built a strong reputation for producing high-quality eggs while prioritising excellent hen welfare. However, there’s always room for improvement. I began exploring ways to enhance the sustainability and environmental impact of our hens’ feed. Additionally, I’ve listened to our customers, many of whom have expressed interest in whether our feed contains soy or GM ingredients.
This led me to create the Natural & Honest range. These eggs come from Billy’s free-range chickens, who enjoy the same excellent welfare and roam freely in the woodland. However, they are also fed a natural diet that is free from soy, palm oil, GM ingredients, and artificial colours.
We have worked diligently to achieve a net-zero carbon footprint by 2020 and are proud to be accredited by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).
What makes them special?
NO SOYA
Nearly 90% of the UK’s soy imports are used for animal feed – the majority of which is consumed by the industrial pig and poultry sector*. Soya production is a major driver of deforestation and habitat loss worldwide. We use natural, nutritionally balanced feed that provides our hens with everything they need to stay healthy and active, without relying on soya. This ensures they get the right balance of proteins, vitamins, and minerals while supporting sustainable farming practices. Better for our hens, better for the planet.

NO PALM OIL
By ensuring our hens’ feed contains no palm oil, which has no significant effect on egg quality, we are actively reducing our environmental impact and supporting more sustainable farming practices. This commitment helps protect vital ecosystems, reduces carbon emissions, and promotes a more ethical food system, so you can enjoy our eggs knowing they come from a responsible and environmentally conscious source.
NON-GM FEED
GM feed refers to animal feed, such as corn and soybeans, that has been genetically modified through engineering to change its natural characteristics. In the UK alone, over one million tonnes of GM crops are used in animal feed. By excluding GM ingredients, our Natural & Honest range ensures that chickens are fed a pure, natural diet without genetic modification.
NO ARTIFICIAL COLOURING
Egg yolk color is often linked to the quality and flavour of an egg. However, it can be artificially enhanced using synthetic pigments. At Billy’s Eggs, every egg naturally achieves its rich golden yolk without the use of any artificial additives.
LOW CARBON FOOTPRINT
We ensure a low carbon footprint at every stage. By avoiding soya and palm oil in our feed, we help reduce deforestation, lower emissions, and support more eco-friendly farming. Our hens roam freely on Cotswold pastures, producing high-quality eggs with minimal environmental impact.
QUALITY ASSURANCE SCHEME
Billy’s Eggs is a member of the Laid in Britain Quality Assurance scheme, a trusted food safety and hen welfare certification run by the United Kingdom Egg Producers Association. It is recognised by the FSA (Food Standards Agency). This ensures that every egg we produce meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and ethical treatment of our hens.
